The Directional Drilling Operator will be primarily responsible for setup and completion of drilling variable sized underground holes and pulling back required conduit. Drilling Operator will work with the OSP Construction team to complete job requirements from start to finish on outside plant projects including digging boring pit, directional boring, pulling back of conduit, splicing of conduit sections, pulling fiber through conduit, setting hand holes, backfilling and seeding, core drilling and pot holing, building penetrations and close out pictures and redlines.Responsibilities:
- Assist in potholing and remediation
- Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie ins
- Drive equipment to job site
- Confirms with locator/lead the bore path to drill
- Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine
- Drill out following the predetermined drill path to the exit pit
- Communicate with the locator/lead via radio to confirm the location of the drill head
- Assist with the install of proper pulling gear and hook up product
- Reverse process to install product
- Oversee laborers and/or crew member's work and monitor time usage
- Conduct post-job quality checks
- Clean, check fluid levels and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required paperwork, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.
- Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required paperwork (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, etc.)
- Follows specifications for the job and company policies
- Complies with safety procedures while driving and at job site
