REPORTS TO: Director of Fine ArtsPOSITION PURPOSE Under the supervision of the Director, the Drill Writer is responsible for the creation of the drill for the Marching Band. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include:
  • With input from the marching band and color guard staff, designs the drill for the performing ensemble.
  • Assist in the instructional delivery of Marching techniques according to their drill design.
  • Engage students to practice, play and perform introduced materials.
  • Instruct students in routines and techniques for the purpose of teaching and improving fundamental skills.
  • Attend rehearsals, sectionals and performances actively participating in assisting students in sectionals and whole group rehearsals; supply feedback, including edits, via staff meetings.
  • Assist director in selecting appropriate marching band and color guard visuals to enhance all performances on the field.
  • Monitor and control student behavior according to established procedures and share any concerns, etc. with the Director.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Must have musical experience with instruments, color guard, marching band
    • Must be available from July 1st - November 1st for Marching Band season/performances
    SALARY: As per Unit 1 contract, $2,500 per season Job Description View Attachment
