Thank you for your interest in working for Timberline Drilling! We are looking for dedicated individuals to assist us in providing exploration core drilling services for surface and underground mining operations nationwide, including Alaska!*Must be willing to work 12 hours / day, up to 20 consecutive days followed by 10 days off (Day and Night shifts, weekends, and holidays)*Must be willing to travel (potentially out of state if local work in your area is unavailable) Your application will remain active for 60 days.Job Duties
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and the environment and the ability to work safely daily.
  • Recognizes and corrects hazards and unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Knows and follows Timberline Drilling Inc. company policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership for, coordinate, and participate with the safe and efficient placement of drills into work areas with contractors and in-house drill crews. This requires the ability to comprehend and relate the needs of the client, to contractors and in-house crews.
  • Safely and efficiently operate underground core drills and surface core drills.
  • Orient, provide leadership and participate with drill crews in the drilling and sampling processes emphasizing safe and effective procedures.
  • Coordinate with client personnel to eliminate scheduling conflicts between drilling and production; requires the ability to communicate with mine operation departments.
  • Ensure drilling program requirements are met by making drill supplies available in a timely and effective manner and communicating clearly and frequently with contractors and client supervision.
  • Safely operate four-wheel drive light vehicles. Safe operation includes: daily pre-operational inspections, requirement that all passengers properly wear seat belts, and proper use of horn signals. Driving conditions can be wet, muddy, and/or icy, on paved and/or unimproved roads.
  • Conduct and document regular drill inspections and in-house safety meetings to ensure compliance with MSHA regulations and client safety, environmental, and social license guidelines. Proper drill inspections require knowledge of the above regulations, policies and guidelines. The ability to recognize unsafe/unsatisfactory situations/conditions is mandatory.
  • Provide leadership and participate with the shipping of samples from the drills to the sample processing facilities making sure samples are properly annotated, loaded and delivered in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Assist with the processing of drill-related documents for accuracy and completeness. Discrepancies will be identified, researched, and corrected.
  • Effectively communicate drill-related activities and issues with supervisor and other departments.
  • Troubleshoot down-hole drilling problems using experience and knowledge gained from similar situations.
  • Ensure that drill hole surveys are correctly conducted on completion of each drill hole.
Requirements and Abilities
  • Hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches of warning alarms and phone conversations.
  • Read, comprehend and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets, labels on products, warning signs, and numbers on monitors and gauges to prevent loss of personnel, property and process.
  • Walk on rough, slick, uneven terrain and climb stairs and/or ladders to access underground escape routes, drill sites, and offices.
  • Wear personal protective equipment including hard hat, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, respirators, earplugs, gloves or any other equipment necessary to perform duties safely.
  • Mount and dismount light vehicles, push and pull levers and knobs, and turn a steering wheel,
  • Able to read, write, and communicate clearly to others.
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Required to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to climb ladders and climb on equipment.
  • Regularly required to work 12-hour shifts (day and night shifts) for up to 20 days at a time.
  • Required to work in extremely hot or cold environments, and extremely wet conditions.
  • Required to travel for multi-day assignments away from home.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass the pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must live in the USA and be authorized to work in the USA.
