Driver and Delivery Specialist - Vincentian Collaborative System : Job Details

Summary:This position is responsible for delivering meals to IL, PC, Caritas, and staff and driving the residents to appointments and organized outings. This includes helping residents in and out of vehicles, escorting residents in and out of doctors' offices etc. Additional responsibilities snow removal, trash removal, grounds and assisting the General Maintenance Technicians with various tasks when not providing transportation. Adheres to all facility and department work rules, policies and procedures.

Provides excellent customer service while driving residents to appointments, shopping trips, meal deliveries and events.

Assists residents in and out of vehicles and escorts them in and out of appointments when needed.

Provides wheelchair transportation when needed using the Independent Living wheelchair accessible bus.

Provides transportation for other Vincentian ministries when needed.

Maintains good communication with Independent Living management, Unconventional Kitchen staff, office staff and residents to provide efficient and timely transportation and meal delivery to the residents. This includes phone calls and text messages.

Delivers catered goods to various locations.

Delivers meals to Personal Care and Independent Living locations along with to the Sisters who live at Caritas.

Assists in kitchen with set up and clean up as needed

Acts in compliance with federal and state sanitary regulations as well as facility infection control guidelines and dietary policies and procedures related to transportation of food.

Use Driver Scheduling app/website to remain current on all schedule additions and changes through the day.

Assists the General Maintenance Technicians with routine maintenance, repair and grounds keeping duties in and around the facility when not providing transportation, including snow removal, trash removal and ground upkeep as necessary.

Assist with inside and outside sweeping, lightbulb changes, furniture moving, filter changes, battery changes, and room set up as needed.

Clean and fuel vehicles as needed.

Establish and monitor daily and weekly trip inspection and preventative maintenance programs, as well as maintain records regarding the maintenance of all vehicles.

Keeps track of when scheduled maintenance/inspections are due.

Work a flexible schedule. Standard hours will be from 9:00 - 5:00 with some evening and weekend work required. Hours will be split between Unconventional Kitchen and Independent Living as scheduled by the Director of Independent Living and the Director of Culinary Experience.

Reports any problems/defects with vehicles to supervisor in a timely manner.

Maintain a safe driving record according to company policies.

Performs all other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

High school graduate or equivalent required.

Current/valid driver's license required.

Minimum of two years driving experience required.

Working knowledge of basic maintenance preferred.

Smart phone capability preferred to manage schedule.

Work Environment:

Working conditions include normal indoor building temperatures and normal air conditioned and heated vehicle temperatures.

There may also be times when employees perform duties outdoors; depending on the season, outdoor temperatures will vary.
