WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU: Being the first staff member, the participants interact with, we expect the Driver to be positive, welcoming, and operate in a timely manner. Must be able to work without direct supervision when picking up or dropping off and be fully responsible for the safety and satisfaction of the participants. Ability to follow precise schedules and adjust driving according to traffic and weather conditions in order to arrive at each stop at the designated time. Diligent to avoid accidents and responsible for maintaining orderliness among passengers. Ensure the safety of the participants, including and providing first aid in case of emergencies, and keeping the vehicle in safe working condition. Keep records of commute times and report mechanical issues, delays or other problems.JOB DUTIES:
  • Drives 15-passenger and/or 24 passenger transportation vehicle within a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and dropping off participants at designated stops
  • Assists in planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed
  • Conducts safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily
  • Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary
  • Services vehicles with gas, diesel fuel, and oil checks and when necessary fills tires and batteries
  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition
  • Completes periodic mileage and other reports including passenger counts
  • Attends meetings regarding safety, first aid and training updates as required
  • Attends driver training programs to maintain current operating licensure
  • Responsible for follow up communication with youth when absent
  • Other duties as assigned
MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Possession of a valid and appropriate Michigan Driver's License
  • Valid Chauffeurs license upon hire
  • CDL license preferred
  • Possession of a safe driving record
  • Pass a Fingerprint Background Check and drug screen
  • Knowledge of basic first aid practices, procedures, and techniques
  • Knowledge of safe driving practices
  • Proficient in use of technology and MS Office and Google Drive Applications
  • Ability to read and write at a level necessary to successfully perform the required duties
  • Ability to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner
  • Ability to drive a vehicle safely and efficiently
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationship with staff and students
  • Experience working with at risk population
  • Criminal records clearance.
  • Unprofessional conduct clearance.
