Job Purpose
The Driver Manager's core responsibility is to manage the performance of approximately 30 to 50 Company drivers. The Driver Manager is responsible for ensuring the accurate execution each driver's plan to increase driver productivity and drive profitability for the business. The Driver Manager must analyze the route plan and effectively communicate it to the driver, emphasizing time and distance calculations and identifying and educating drivers of USDOT CFR 49 regulations. The Driver Manager will monitor revenue per vehicle and on time performance of KPI's in order to maintain vehicle profitability and be responsible for handling performance issues, as deeded appropriate by the Driver Manager. The Driver Manager will communicate with his/her fleet of drivers regularly to increase driver engagement and productivity and address personnel matters as they arise.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the management of approximately 30 to 50 Company drivers including scheduling and compliance with hours-of-service requirements pursuant to DOT regulations.
- Develop alternative plans when drivers do not execute and manage execution of the new plan.
- Develop driver work schedules and confirm adherence.
- Monitor ETAs, PTAs and additional dispatch information.
- Ensure daily communication with each driver in the TMS system to ensure accurate execution of the plan.
- Develop and monitor weekly KPI's to evaluate driver performance and make strong recommendations to the Fleet Manager regarding personnel decisions including the hiring and firing of Company drivers.
- Partner with external vendors to transition loads when third-party assistance is required.
- Identify and report out potential late loads to the Customer Service Department and Company management, as appropriate.
- Manage driver incentive compensation.
- Assist other Driver Managers and the Dispatch department, as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements:
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills are required, including professional telephone etiquette.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is required.
- Proficiency with TMS database systems (e.g., McLeod) is preferred
- Knowledge in building Manifests is preferred.
- An associate's or bachelor's degree in the field of Communication, Logistics or Supply Chain Management is preferred.
- A High School Diploma is required.
- Bi-Lingual (Spanish) is preferred.
