POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Drug Testing Coordinator

LOCATION/DEPT: Pathway Forward Program

REPORTS TO: Assistant Program Director

FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt

STATUS TYPE: RFT

OUTCOMES

The mission of the Drug Testing Coordinator is to provide support to the administration for the facility by ensuring uniform and equitable procedures, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting related to drug testing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Following Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and program established guidelines in the coordination of drug testing.
  • Ensuring the collecting of specimens from BOP residents is done in a uniform, equitable, dignified, and highly professional manner.
  • Assist with the drug testing of S. Probation Office (USPO) clients as needed.
  • Responsible for daily monitoring, recording, writing, and entering of testing performed.
  • Responsible for submitting mandated reports to the Assistant Program Director.
  • Conduct weekly review and monitoring of testing.
  • Package and mail all specimens.
  • Responsible for calibrating and maintaining the breathalyzer.
  • Report issues with breathalyzer to the Assistant Program Director.
  • Maintain confidentiality to the extent possible.
  • Collect, verify, record, analyze, and disseminate data in compliance with all obligations imposed by the Salvation Army, the Bureau of Prisons, the U.S. Probation Office, and the American Correctional Association.
  • Review policies and procedures at least annually for accuracy and effectiveness, revising as needed.
  • Use the program database to facilitate an ongoing and mutually beneficial relationship between the Program and DHQ.
  • Conduct all new resident orientations regarding drug testing and breathalyzer procedures.
  • Conduct training for new staff and annual training related to drug testing and breathalyzer procedures.
  • Ensure staff who interact with residents have confidence in conducting the entire testing process.
  • Assist in processing new referrals within the Intake Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

    This position reports to the Assistant Program Director. This individual works closely with residents, Correctional Monitors, Security Services Supervisor, and Reentry Case Managers.

    In contracts related to this position's duties, this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission.

    PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

    This individual will be evaluated based on standards established by the facility's Program Directives, with guidance from DHQ HR. Evaluations will consider the timeliness, effectiveness, and completeness of tasks performed and the results of internal and external audits, when applicable. Fact-based opinions of patients, subordinates, peers, superiors, and contractual authorities may be considered. A performance review will be conducted.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or previous basic patient care experience preferred.
    • Five years' experience in social services.

    POSITION LIMITATIONS

    • This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
    • This individual will keep the Assistant Program Director informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
    • This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • This position requires light physical work and must be able to lift 10 pounds.
    • To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment and a PC as well as testing supplies.
    • The work environment for this position is a residential environment with a low to moderate noise level.
    • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
