DSHS FFA Maintenance Mechanic 3 (Fire Alarm Technician)

We're looking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic in the Facilities, Finance, and Analytics Administration (FFA) at Western State Hospital who is skilled in general maintenance in fields such as plumbing, electrical, welding, carpentry, and machinery.

This job is a life safety specialist needing an employee who has a Nicet Level 2 Fire Alarm Systems certification. A major part of this job focuses on fire alarm and fire suppression systems.

Based out of our Life Safety shop, you'll perform a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction of buildings, grounds, machinery, mechanical facilities and equipment, and hospital facilities, systems, and equipment.

Some of what you'll do

* Maintenance and repairs in life safety, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems

* Fire alarm testing and maintenance

* Fire suppression testing and maintenance (fire sprinklers, stand pipes, fire extinguishers)

* Emergency lighting testing

* Minor appliance repairs

* Develop solutions to repair and maintenance issues

* Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and sketches

We're looking for someone with

Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade and one year of experience as a journey-level worker in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work.

And

Nicet Level 2 Fire Alarm Systems certification

Note: Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
