DSHS FFA Laundry Worker 2Department of Social and Health Services at Western State Hospital in Lakewood, WA is seeking a Laundry Worker 2 to join their team. You will assist in meeting the needs of our customers with high-quality textiles in a timely cost-effective manner in an industrial laundry environment. Operate washers, dryers, flat iron, and fold clothing.Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.If you have knowledge of commercial laundry processes and a work history showing team commitment and job accomplishment, this is the perfect opportunity for you.Some of what you'll do:* Coordinate and perform routine laundry work and operate a variety of laundry equipment* Process linen for the entire institution to the expected standard of the Appointing Authority* Performs tasks necessary to the daily decontamination of linen such as sorting, washer and dryer deck activities as well as processing, folding, and filling outgoing orders* Operate large commercial washers and dryers* Change chemicals as needed* Work in the linen room filling daily linen orders* Use the ironer/cross-folding machine* Place soiled linen onto the conveyor belt, separating linen into correct baskets for washingWhat we're looking for:* Ability to use all laundry chemicals correctly* Ability to operate laundry machines, extractors, and mangle correctly* Ability to wash, dry, and iron institutional clothing and linens* Ability to count, mark, sort, fold, bundle and tie laundry* Ability to receive instructions, assimilate the information and act according to those instructions* Effective communication with management, peers, clients and the public as required to carry out the assigned duties of the position* Supervise and train residents in doing routine laundry workThis announcement will be used to fill the Mon-Fri 5:30am - 2:00pm shiftWho should apply?People with Six months of experience as a Laundry Worker 1, or equivalent, in a large commercial or large industrial laundry facility.
