It's how we live.About the RoleEarly Childhood Education internship offers the opportunity to participate in the creation and implementation of interactive, in-person learning experiences for Philadelphia-area toddler and pre-K chilren. The Early Childhood Education Intern will learn from assisting Educational Programs Assistants with project coordination and instruction by serving as the second instructor for story-time and crafting workshops in a variety of outdoor and indoor settings. The Early Childhood Education Intern will work alongside Ed Program Assistants during lesson planning and implementation and will read to children and guide children as they complete craft projects. The Early Childhood Education Intern will accomplish the following tasks:
- Complete intern training in WHYY's early childhood curriculum.
- Attend each session of the program they are assisting with.
- Guide at least one group of students through the process of creating craft projects
- Attend regular meetings before program sessions to go over the plan for the day and suggest changes if necessary.
- Meet with Ed Programs Assistants briefly after each program session to review the student outcomes and to get coaching feedback on their teaching performance.
Qualifications
- Current junior and senior undergraduate student, or graduate student studying for a Bachelor's degree in early childhood, education, or a related field.
- Experience working with children are a plus.
