Position Type: Licensed - Teaching/Early Childhood Intervention SpecialistDate Posted: 4/11/2024Location: ESC of Lake Erie WestJOB SUMMARY: The Early Childhood Intervention Specialist will plan and implement a developmentally appropriate public preschool program for at risk, typical, and disabled students. The Early Childhood Intervention Specialist will be responsible for the development and implementation of each student's individual education program within the preschool setting. In addition, the Early Childhood Intervention Specialist is responsible for conducting parent involvement activities. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must meet ODE's requirements for a dual licensed teacher of a preschool integrated class or be willing to pursue appropriate license through the supplemental process:
- Prekindergarten License, or Early Childhood License (P-3), or Primary License (P-5) with license/endorsement in Prekindergarten Special Needs or Early Education of the Handicapped
- Elementary License or Intervention Specialist License with Prekindergarten Special Needs or Early Education of the Handicapped
- Early Childhood Intervention Specialist License (P-3) or Primary Intervention Specialist License (P-5)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the Ohio Operating Standards the Education of Children with Disabilities
- Knowledge of the Ohio Department of Education Early Learning Standards & Step up to Quality Program
- Knowledge of FERPA and HIPPA
- Knowledge of current preschool curriculum programs and developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education
- Knowledge of current educational issues and best practices
- Knowledge of effective intervention strategies
- Knowledge of mandated assessment tools
- Knowledge of community agencies that can support students with disabilities
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques
- Knowledge of problem solving processes and creative thinking skills
- Ability to use technology as both a productivity tool and as a method of communication; proficient in computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Docs)
- Ability to identify children's strengths and areas of weakness and implement a program to enhance their development
- Ability to maintain accurate student records
- Ability to observe and assess skills in all areas of development
- Ability to analyze and interpret assessment data
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
