Click here to learn more about our award winning district!We look forward to hearing from you!Position Details:Early Childhood Assistant positions are based on a 183 day school year, 5 days per week and 6.75 hours per day.This position will float between various rooms and locations based on staffing needs, supporting all ages of the program.Salary:YearHourly Rate1$16.402$17.183$17.974$18.755$19.546$20.137$20.738$21.329$21.9010$22.5011$23.0912$23.62Paid Stipends!Full-time, early childhood assistants can receive up to three paid stipends in the 2024-25 school year! These stipends provide an additional week of pay during Fall, Winter and Spring breaks! The hourly rate for a current EVSC assistant will be based on years of service with EVSC in an assistant role. Annual, incremental pay increases are given for each year of service with the EVSC in this role if an employee has worked 120 days in a school year. New employees will begin on year 1.Education Requirements:
  • Completion of the Child Development Associate Certificate and/or completion of an associate's or bachelor's degree in early childhood education required;
  • Or
  • Complete required online professional development within 60 days of employment. This position does require an additional certification of a CDA. If you are interested in the position but do not have your CDA, EVSC will financially support employees in achieving their CDA while working in the role. Completion of the CDA must be performed within one year of employment.
Additional Requirements:Prior to employment, applicants must complete the following:
  • National criminal background check, including fingerprints, and Child Protective Index check
  • Physical, TB Test and Drug Screen
  • Online training for: Child Abuse and Neglect, Foundations, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Safe Sleep
  • A valid driver's license is required for travel to various schools.

EVSC employees have access to the EVSC Wee Care Learning Centers. The Wee Care program provides a quality early learning experience for employees' children as young as six weeks through age five at a special employee rate. This position will automatically be enrolled in the Public Employees' Retirement Fund (PERF) through the state of Indiana, which includes a defined benefit (Pension) as well as an Annuity Savings Account (ASA). Employees may also participate in a 403(b) Plan. Enrolling in the 403(b) plan allows employees to save for their retirement by making a pre-tax salary deferral contributions to the Plan.Eligible employees may enroll in the EVSC group life insurance and long term disability plans. It is a confidential, voluntary service that provides professional counseling and referral services designed to help employees and their family members with personal, job or family-related matters.SUMMARY: The early childhood instructional assistant will assist the lead instructor in daily classroom and building activities of children enrolled in the extended day program.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Other duties may be assigned.
  • Lead/Assist with small-group activities.
  • Assist teacher in maintaining discipline and other functions while using positive approach to behavior management.
  • Assist with family engagement activities and home visits.
  • Present a pleasant, caring, respectful attitude toward children.
  • Assist with set up of classroom.
  • Prepare materials for specialized instructional units.
  • Assist with attendance reports and related clerical functions.
  • Assist with collecting and displaying documentation.
  • Operate standard school equipment (i.e. computer, copier, laminator, technology, audiovisual equipment).
  • Escort and supervise children as they move to and from various rooms.
  • Supervise children within the building, on the playground, and on field trips.
  • Assist with toileting and self-care needs of children when necessary (may include diapering).
  • Assist with assessments and planning.
  • Collaborate with co-workers.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and professional development, as required.
  • Work with co-workers to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere.
  • Maintain and ensure confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
