Echo Tech - Per DiemShift: Variable, 8 hour shiftsJob Description:Candidates must have completed an echocardiography program. 1 year of experience as an echo tech is preferred.PATIENT POPULATION: The patient population served is all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Administrative Director of Imaging and Physical Therapy, Director of Imaging, and in consultation with the Medical Director and Cardiologists, the Echocardiography (Echo) Technologist performs professional duties involved in a variety of technical procedures within the imaging modality of Echocardiology for a diagnosis, with latitude for independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative.Duties include scanning of Cardiac Echo Imaging. Responsible for patient care, comfort and completion of required procedures. Is responsible for the assessment, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and development; and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups. Must follow AIDET and accepts reassignment and additional duties, when necessary, in a flexible and positive manner.On call responsibilities may be required.Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act. (Gov't. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Must be capable of dealing effectively and ethically with co-workers, physicians, and other Hospital personnel.To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: ARDMS certification in Echocardiology is preferred. Must have and maintain current BLS card, required. Responsibilities and Essential Functions: *Indicates Essential Function 1 * Performs Echocardiography procedures using prescribed positions, technical factors and immobilization devices as required and is responsible for the quality of the images. Renders professional care in the Echo Department and provides for the patient's comfort as much as possible throughout the procedure. 2 * Selects, operates and maintains equipment as directed. 3 * Secures, maintains, and/or returns required supplies and ultrasound accessories. 4 * Maintains adequate records as directed and is responsible for maintaining a clean and neat work area. 5 * Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. 6 * Responsible for the proper handling of equipment, and calls for service as needed. 7 * Assists physicians with invasive procedures, i.e. Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE), Paracardiocentesis..etc. 8 * Participates in continued education as required with ARDMS and department standards. 9 * Is responsible for the patient charges and the quality of the images.
