  • The Emergency Department is a62-bed unit, including resuscitation rooms, fast-track areas, and specialized spaces for trauma, cardiac emergencies, and stroke.
  • Our ED is supported by state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities, with rapid access to radiology, laboratory, and surgical services.
  • The ED is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians, nurse practitioners, and a highly skilled team of emergency-trained nurses.

Job Summary

GW Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and experiencedClinical Supervisor– Emergency Departmentto lead and support the nursing team in our fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency Department. The Clinical Supervisor will provide leadership, oversight, and clinical expertise, ensuring that patient care standards are maintained while fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision for emergency department nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care in accordance with established protocols and best practices.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet the fluctuating demands of the Emergency Department.
  • Collaborate with the ED management team to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies, while promoting a culture of safety and quality.
  • Act as a clinical resource and mentor for nursing staff, providing guidance and support in complex and high-acuity cases.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and emergency preparedness efforts to enhance patient care and department efficiency.
  • Lead and support the implementation of evidence-based practices, policies, and procedures aimed at improving patient outcomes and staff performance.
  • Foster an environment of collaboration, communication, and accountability among the ED team, promoting professional development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
  • Current RN license in the state of Washington, D.C., or be DC eligible.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience in an emergency or critical care setting.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a high-acuity, fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications required.
  • Strong clinical judgment, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to manage a diverse team in a high-pressure setting.
  • Ability to lead quality improvement initiatives and promote adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
