Job Description: - Responsible for the completion of assigned tasks and prescribed treatments in the general care of patients.- Assists other medical personnel to ensure the total nursing needs of all patients are met.- Accountable for all nursing care delivered or assigned.- Completes orientation program, skills checklist, and ACLS course within six months of hire.- Demonstrates competency in parenteral administration of medications, crystalloid fluids, blood, and blood components.- Performs EKGs, respiratory therapy treatments, and oxygen administration.- Safely and effectively uses cardiac monitoring equipment, defibrillators, infusion pumps, pacemakers, and other related equipment.- Monitors ventilators under supervision.- Recognizes psychological, social, and spiritual needs of patients and their families, utilizing appropriate resources.- Demonstrates competency in venipuncture and maintenance of IV lines.- Operates dispatch units and radios.- Provides patient teaching, including cardiac rehabilitation.- Identifies and prioritizes needs/problems, develops appropriate plans of care, implements plans, and evaluates patient outcomes.- Demonstrates accurate and relevant documentation of patient care.- Administers accurate dosages of medications as ordered by physicians.- Cares for patients with invasive lines, tubes, and drainage systems.- Demonstrates competency during code situations, following ACLS guidelines.- Assists in the orientation of new staff.- Demonstrates proficiency in ER, ICU, OB, recovery room, and GI lab recovery room.- Assists in patient care as needed.- Holiday coverage required.
