Our list of bestselling, award-winning titles also includes works by Anthony Bourdain, Roz Chast, Laird Hunt, Mark Kurlansky, Sam Quinones, Elif Shafak, Jesmyn Ward, Mary Pipher, Rachel Louise Snyder, V (formerly Eve Ensler), and Edmund White.Position ProfileThis role reports to a Senior Editor and/or Editorial Director in the Adult Trade group with a strong possibility of supporting two editors across fiction and nonfiction. ResponsibilitiesCommunicate with other departments, authors, and agents.Write editorial materials, including but not limited to: galley letters, tip sheets, catalog copy, jacket copy, and copy to feed out to online retailers.Read submissions and provide feedback per editors' requests; provide editorial notes on acquired manuscripts per editors' requests.Prepare acquisition materials, including but not limited to: P&Ls, acquisition memos, and acquisition grids.Input data into our electronic databases including Biblio.Mail out various forms of correspondence, including book mailings.Prepare Travel and Expense reports and Focal Point invoices.Calendar management; organization and scheduling of various department meetings.Make restaurant reservations, book travel via the corporate travel agent, and book conference appointments.Commission and send advance payments.Research and analyze trends and competition.Research sales figures (Cognos, Circana, Royalty Share) for tip sheets.Draft deal memos, review contracts, upload to Biblio.Pull seasonal lists; maintain pub grids and department grids.Prepare manuscripts for transmittal.Prepare illustration suggestions and art logs for illustrated titles.Manage Adult Editorial Intern and coordinate Editorial prize/award submissions.Shepherd UK co-pub titles through the US publication process and present these titles at pre-launch and launch meetings.RequirementsBachelors Degree in a related field and at least one year of experience.Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.Organization.Multi-tasking and ability to work under tight deadlines.Attention to detail.Critical reading skills/editorial eye.Ability to take initiative.Interest in working on fiction and non-fiction titles.Microsoft Office skills.LocationCandidates must reside in the NY tri-state area.
