Keep scrolling for additional information about TIME.The Role: TIME is seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial, and visionary editor to bring our iconic global brand to life on social media. This person will also lead TIME's efforts in expanding its reach, developing innovative social strategies, and refining our content strategy on and off platform.This editorial leader will work with teams across TIME to find new ways to tell stories across social media as well as find ways to monetize TIME's following. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for journalism and a deep understanding of data, storytelling, and social media. They will have an expertise in analyzing audience behavior as well as the ability to adapt quickly in an evolving digital media landscape.This person will oversee a team of editors based in New York, Washington, D.C., and London.Responsibilities:
  • Develop and oversee comprehensive audience growth and engagement strategies across digital, with a focus on video and emerging platforms.
  • Lead the creation and execution of TIME's social video strategy, working closely with the video and audience teams to increase views and engagement.
  • Refine TIME's voice across channels, with a focus on continuing to bolster our brand identity.
  • Work with sales, marketing, and events to develop new strategies and products to generate new revenue from social platforms.
  • Supervise a team of audience editors, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities.
  • Partner with editorial leadership to develop goals and strategies for audience and business growth.
  • Oversee content strategy for TIME's owned and operated properties, including newsletters, homepage, and recirculation modules.
  • Manage editorial relationships with key digital platforms and news aggregators like Apple News, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Letterboxd, WhatsApp, and Threads.
  • Oversee rollout plans for covers, tentpole lists, major features, and TIME events, ensuring maximum impact and reach.
  • Make timely and contextual story, coverage, and headline recommendations based on data, trends, and editorial judgment.
  • Lead newsroom conversations around audience growth, engagement initiatives, and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in social media or audience development, preferably at a media organization.
  • Proven track record of growing and engaging audiences across multiple platforms.
  • Strong understanding of social media trends, algorithms, and best practices.
  • Experience in developing and executing successful video content strategies. (Familiarity with talent booking, video editing, and live events a plus)
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, social media management tools, and analytics platforms.

  • Salary range for this position: $125,000 - $165,000 commensurate with experience
