OverviewPOSITION SUMMARY:The Education Coordinator, School of Histotechnology is responsible to assist the Program Director in the operations of the School of Histotechnology, ensuring a high-quality educational program and successful integration into laboratory department activities. Assist the Program Director with administration of program including recruiting, selecting, counseling, instructing, entering grades, attending job fairs, and promoting the program. Assist the Program Director with development and implementation of changes to policies, procedures, schedules, curriculum and teaching methods, ensuring the program meets the Medical Center and accrediting agency requirements and achieves objectives of the department. Work with Laboratory Management Team on projects related to training and education of Laboratory employees and meeting the regulatory requirements of the Laboratory. QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Education:
Experience:
- Must obtain NAACLS (National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences) approval as Education Coordinator within 6 months of hire
- Three years' experience working as a Histotechnician or Histotechnologist
Licensure/ Certification:
- Histotechnician (HT) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification United States (ASCP BOC US)
Other Skills/ Knowledge:
- Interpersonal skills necessary to present course material to students, communicate effectively with faculty, laboratory staff and students, and school stakeholders
- Computer skills necessary to convert lecture and didactic materials to online courses and to create varied educational materials
- Advanced analytical skills necessary to design, implement, and evaluate new curriculum and programs, policies and procedures, monitor and improve current curriculum and to prepare and coordinate complex clinical rotation schedules for multiple facilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Education:
- Bachelor's degree with successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnology program
Experience:
- Teaching and/or training experience
Licensure/ Certification:
- Histotechnologist (HTL), ASCP BOC US
