At CHS, we are creating connections to empower agriculture. Summary CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Ag Retail division to hire a EHS Specialist. Day to day responsibilities for this individual would including providing technical support assistance on matters relating to safety. This person will be responsible for implementing and managing existing safety programs. Our ideal candidate would have strong relationship building skills and be detail-oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Candidates should live and office in the Herman business unit (Herman, Clinton, Fergus Falls, Glenwood, Morris, Starbuck, or surrounding communities). Responsibilities
- Coordinate compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) related requirements (federal, state, local, and company).
- Communicate EH&S related requirements and expectations to location personnel to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe work environment.
- Routinely visit locations in the business unit to conduct facility inspections and provide EHS support to operations personnel.
- Appropriately respond to day-to-day EH&S related concerns and events in a timely and efficient manner.
- Develop and implement of EH&S related plans, programs, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct effective EH&S related training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Conduct complex EH&S related audits, workplace inspections, job safety analysis, and maintain detailed recordkeeping.
- Conduct complex and thorough incident investigations, manage worker's compensation process, and return to work program.
- Actively monitor, manage, and follow-up on EH&S incidents and performance metrics.
- Evaluate EH&S metrics and collaborate with EH&S and Operations leadership to develop action plans for continuous improvement.
- Keep current on all applicable EH&S related rules and regulations.
- Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required) - High School diploma or GED
- 4+ years of experience in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety
Additional Qualifications - Agriculture background and facility operation experience
- Ability to complete OSHA 30-hour training certification program.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Occupational Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or related field.

Physical Requirements - Ability to climb ladders and operate equipment as needed to inspect facilities
