Job DescriptionSalary Range: $86,462-$129,692POSITION SUMMARY:This position will lead the implementation of a prevention-focused environmental, health and safety program. The position will establish, execute and deliver specific strategy that supports AWG's overall EHS objectives, including crisis preparedness. The position will also be overseeing the sanitation and food safety processes, through audits, corrective actions, training and keeping the organization informed of current food safety issues.SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In cooperation with Warehouse management, develop an EHS strategy that supports Corporate EHS goals.
- Develop effective EHS plans designed to meet these goals to reduce overall incidents, injuries, severity and cost.
- Effectively communicate the EHS strategy and plans with Senior Leadership.
- Support site management in the implementation of the EHS plans.
- Design or utilize current metrics to track progress, proactively identify areas of concern and drive accountability.
- Develop or utilize current training programs to transfer EHS knowledge and core competencies to management and employees.
- Develop or utilize existing audits to track and identify gaps in local compliance policies and procedures.
- Support creation of EHS goals for the site management and appropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team to drive EHS culture, compliance and results.
- Lead a system to identify and evaluate hazards (risks), and implement effective controls (corrective solutions).
- Provide supervisor and management training on incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Lead the incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective actions.
- Start the Workers Compensation process for work related injuries and interact with TPA to resolution.
- Maintain OSHA logs and supporting documentation.
- Interface with regulatory bodies (OSHA, DOT, EPA, and State/Local Regulators) as needed.
- Facilitate the completion of a company-wide annual EHS training plan.
- Develop effective interdepartmental relationships that engages teamwork towards common goals.
- Assist facilities management team in ensuring required regulatory permits are acquired, required reports are submitted to regulatory agencies and any site permit conditions (e.g. Tier II, SWP3, PSM, special waste, etc.) are met.
- Display strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.

- Create and facilitate EHS engagement through shift driven safety committees towards common goals and objectives.
- Drive and promote a zero incidents safety culture throughout the company.
- Support execution of AWG's Emergency Preparedness Plan procedures and policies.
- Monitor, interpret and communicate regulatory changes to management.
- Assist with the development and presentation of Corporate and site-specific training programs as needed.
- Interprets, trains and consistently enforces with a strong presence on the floor, all Company policies and procedures.
- Maintains employee relations through regular department meetings, maintains on-going interaction and communication, monitors employee morale, and responds to and implements ideas to improve employee engagement and enablement.
FOOD SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Periodically review all food safety preventative programs and instructions, to ensure they remain current and that the organization remains in compliance with government agencies.
- Manage the Food Safety Team and ensure that processes needed for the warehouse are established, implemented, and maintained.
- Report to the Director of Distribution and top management on the performance of the Food Safety Program and any need for improvement.
- Ensure the promotion and awareness pertaining to food safety is pertinent throughout the organization.
- Interface with regulatory bodies (FDA, USDA, DOA, and State/Local Regulators) as needed.
- Assemble the Food Safety Team, as needed.
- Oversee, perform and track the internal food safety audit program - select internal audit personnel, conduct internal audits, review results of food safety audits, ensure that corrective actions are understood, and ensure corrective actions takes place.
- Collect, analyze, and report data, to determine the root cause of food safety problems and recommend actions to resolve.
- Conduct or supervise hazard analyses, report results of analyses to top management, and periodically review food safety-related processes to ensure hazards are accounted for and controlled.
SANITATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors facility condition and addresses concerns regarding sanitation with Sanitation Supervisor.
- Works closely with Sanitation Supervisor to ensure all regulatory requirements related to sanitation are met.
- Sets clear guidelines and expectations for Sanitation Supervisor and subordinates.
- Monitors reports regarding cleaning, completion rates, frequencies, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies.
- Regularly communicates roles and expectations to keep the facility audit ready at all times.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
- Minimum five years' experience with hands on environmental and safety experience in a warehousing, manufacturing or transportation environment
- Minimum of five years' experience with hands on food safety experience in a food warehouse, manufacturing or processing environment
- Considerable experience with occupational health, regarding transportation safety, food safety and environmental compliance is preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge in HACCP and GMPs
- Understanding of Food Safety regulations, laws, and best practices including those from FDA, USDA and other state/provincial/ local entities
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- PIT Certifications - Train-the-Trainer
- First Aid, CPR, AED certifications
- Has attained or is working toward HACCP certification.
- Other pertinent safety certification or designations are desirable as well

- Strong background in safety with a proven record of results (TRIR, WC costs, etc.).
