SA Recycling, a leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is actively looking for an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to champion EHS activities for our Decatur, AL facility. The EHS Coordinator, under the direction if the EHS Manager, will actively participate in training, coaching, and culture building activities; the coordination of various environmental, health and safety systems and programs; as well as ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local and company safety, occupational health and environmental rules and regulations.
This position will work inside and outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Responsibilities of the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator
* Accountable for developing relationships with company employees, at all levels, to promote and foster an industry leading safety culture.
* Participate in and conduct regular EHS inspections and, if needed, develop and propose corrections to address any identified concerns.
* Assist with incident response; actively participate in all injury, property and vehicular investigations; and assist in the compilation and submission of all internal and external incident reporting.
* Compile and maintain all EHS records and performance tracking in accordance with all applicable federal, state, local and company guidelines.
* Assist in the creation and delivery of Safety and Environmental trainings for assigned facilities.
* Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response activities.
* Provide guidance and propose solutions to management and employees regarding appropriate practices to remain in compliance with all regulatory and company requirements.
* Participate in the creation and submission of permit applications and reports as required by environmental agencies.
Qualifications for the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator
* Associates Degree related to Occupational Safety, Environmental, or Natural Sciences preferred; or equivalent work experience.
* 1 - 3 years of experience with Workplace Safety in a military, mining, heavy industry, construction, or manufacturing setting preferred.
* Knowledge of federal and state occupational health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations preferred.
* Experience in implementing change management and process improvement in the work environment.
* Ability to handle sensitive matters in a professional and confidential manner.
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
* Must be Bi-Lingual with a fluency in speaking, reading and writing in both English and Spanish.
* Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving abilities.
