New Way TrucksEHS CoordinatorBooneville, MSThis position reports to the Senior Manager of EHS and is responsible for day-to-day tasks related to the environmental, safety, and security of companies under the umbrella of McLaughlin Family Companies. Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in collaborating with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures.
- Assist in Coordinating the safety and security programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist in Evaluating the effectiveness of safety and security programs.
- Reviews current safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Investigate accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
- Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
- Submits recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
- Stops operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Share environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization.
- Provide new-employee health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations.
- Conduct audits at hazardous waste sites or industrial sites or participate in hazardous waste site investigations.
- Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.
- Maintain or update emergency response plans or procedures.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Pull Water Samples as required for the MDEQ and EPA.
- Manages all Hazardous Waste and Storage as per laws and regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Extensive knowledge of security protocols and emergency preparedness.
- Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct training.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience:
- An associates degree in law enforcement or business management is required. Bachelors degree preferred.
- At least five years of safety and/or security experience required.
- Advanced training or certification in safety and security preferred.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
- Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules, regarding health and safety practices.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ability to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
- Physical ability to climb, crawl, and work in awkward positions such as kneeling, bending, stooping, and overhead.
