The successful candidate will assist attorneys in providing high-quality legal services to elderly clients and their families. This position requires a strong understanding of Medicare programs, elder law statutes, and estate planning.Key Responsibilities:Medicare and Medicaid Assistance: Provide legal support related to Medicare and Medicaid issues, including eligibility, appeals, claims, and coordination with healthcare providers.Elder Law Guidance: Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and guardianships for elderly clients.Client Consultation: Communicate with clients and their families to gather necessary information and provide updates on case progress.Legal Research: Conduct research on Medicare and Medicaid regulations, elder law, and related legal precedents to assist attorneys in case preparation.Document Preparation: Prepare and organize legal documents and filings, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.Case Management: Maintain accurate and detailed case files, tracking important dates, deadlines, and filings for elder law and Medicare-related matters.Court Filings and Hearings: Assist attorneys with preparing for hearings, filing necessary documents, and attending court hearings when required.Coordination with Agencies: Liaise with government agencies, healthcare providers, and social workers to facilitate the resolution of client issues related to Medicare, Medicaid, and long-term care planning.Client Advocacy: Support the firm's commitment to providing compassionate and personalized legal assistance to elderly clients and their families.Qualifications:Education & Experience:Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies or similar field (Bachelor's Degree preferred).Paralegal Certification (e.g., NALA or NFPA) is preferred.Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a paralegal, with at least 1 year focused on elder law, Medicare, Medicaid, or related fields.Skills & Knowledge:Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and elder law principles.Proficiency in legal research and the use of legal software.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.Empathetic and professional demeanor when working with elderly clients and their families.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with long-term care planning and understanding of senior living and health care options.Familiarity with estate planning and elder care services.Interested in hearing more?
