ELECTRICAL ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY: The Electrical Engineer is responsible for verifying the design of solar energy systems, ensuring they meet regulatory standards and specifications. The Electrical Engineer will work closely with project managers and 3rd party engineers to optimize system performance.
POSITION: Electrical Engineer
DEPARTMENT: EPC
REPORTS TO: President of EPC
TERMS/HOURS: Full-time, M-F, 8:00AM-4:30PM
CLASSIFICATION: Salaried/Exempt
Pay Range: $90,000-$130,000 (Pay information will vary depending upon relevant experience for the position)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Engineering Design and Analysis: (Technical Electrical Engineering Work) 20%
- Conduct engineering design and design reviews for renewable energy projects and other electrical engineering projects.
- Utilize AutoCAD and other engineering software for design tasks.
- Review, interpret, and communicate the engineering perspective regarding surveys, engineering reports, and technical specifications, to the broader team.
- Forecasting & communicating to the design timelines with outside engineers.
Technical Skills and Analysis: (Technical Electrical Engineering Work) 25%
- Perform site evaluations and feasibility studies to assess solar potential and suitability for installations.
- Read, review & interpret PVSyst reports to analyze system performance against design performance. Be able to provide feedback to the team or stakeholders with respect to the PVSyst reports and findings.
- Assist O&M Supervisor to quality control the solar arrays to produce the highest energy yield possible.
- Conduct performance analysis and modeling of solar power systems using software to optimize energy output and efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior staff.
Project Management and Coordination: (Collaborate with Project Managers & EPC) 25%
- Assist project managers with relevant electrical engineering tasks as needed from beginning to end, including construction oversight.
- Collaborate with project managers regarding project objectives, schedules, and budgets and how the engineering part of the project will influence the objectives, schedules, and budgets
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and utility companies.
- Attend meetings, review project proposals, and prepare project documentation.
- Review bids & bid scopes, prepare analysis of bids for budget or buy-out purposes.
Regulatory Compliance and Permitting: (Collaborate with Development) 15%
- Assist the Director of Development, from an engineering perspective as needed, with the site plan and zoning approval processes for renewable projects.
- Collaborate with Director of Development to ensure electrical design plans comply with necessary permits and approvals from municipal, county, and state regulatory agencies.
- Conduct technical reviews of permits and other regulatory documents and provide strategic feedback on how the permits and regulatory documents can influence the electrical design of the projects.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Assisting with permit applications to the appropriate agencies and ensuring projects are compliant throughout the design stages.
Communication and Client Interaction: 15%
- Communicate with vendors, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Conduct vendor and stakeholder meetings and presentations.
- Interact with coworkers, regulatory agencies, and external partners effectively.
- Document project progress, updates, and outcomes accurately.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Experience with engineering software (AutoCAD, PVsyst, etc.)
