You will be involved with the planning, location, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and analysis of electrical components involved in these projects. Core Daily Responsibilities:
- Develops, administers, designs, reviews, and inspects capital improvement projects that include electrical components (including high, medium, and low voltage power supply and switchgear, instrumentation and control, generators, SCADA, and PLC's) and/or systems, for wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, or other public works facilities.
- Assists in the acquisition of all necessary electrical permits prior to construction bidding.
- Performs on-site data collection activities, electrical system modeling, calculations, report review, and coordination with other lines of business within the Department to ensure a quality product.
- Consults on electrical safety issues throughout the Department through the use of standards, including but not limited to, OSHA, NEC (NFPA 70), and NFPA 70E. Serves as a subject matter expert in Electrical Safety.
- Conducts and provides oversight for Arc Flash studies of varying size and complexity.
- Analyzes and prepares engineering-related reports as required by state, federal and local authorities and presents findings orally or in writing to County staff, officials, or other agencies.
- Prepares, reviews, and approves electrical engineering plans and cost estimates for compliance with applicable regulations, including stamping and signing as a licensed Professional Engineer, and calculating or verifying pay quantities for contracted services.
- Plans, coordinates, and manages development of electrical systems including preparation and administration of contracts and agreements with consultants.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- Eight years of progressively responsible experience in electrical engineering.
- An ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required.
- Additional experience may be substituted for the degree.
- Additional education or experience which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position may substitute on a year for year basis.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington or the ability to be registered in Washington within 6 months from the date of hire is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in electrical engineering.
