Electrical Instrumentation and Controls Engineer (Rotating Equipment Focus)

Location: Arvada, CO

Salary: $130-150K + ($5K Relocation package offered)

Travel: 10-15% to client sites out of state

Overview: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our EI&C team, specializing in rotating equipment such as pumps and compressors. In this role, you will be integral to the design and implementation of control systems for engineered-to-order solutions installed in refineries, petrochemical plants, and power stations worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project and customer specifications to develop comprehensive control packages for centrifugal pumps and compressors.
  • Ensure product safety and compliance in all designs and documentation.
  • Design, specify, and develop control systems (Siemens and Rockwell PLC based) and machinery monitoring systems, such as Bently Nevada.
  • Generate and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints, P&IDs, and other technical documentation.
  • Create PLC code, Bills of Materials, One-Line Drawings, Wire Lists, and Control Narratives.
  • Prepare and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and facilitate customer witness testing.
  • Troubleshoot and design communication networks, including Ethernet, Modbus, and Fieldbus.
  • Specify process valves and instrumentation related to performance and anti-surge controllers.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure project success.
  • Participate in the selection of input/output devices, including valves and sensors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field from an accredited university.
  • 5-8+ years of relevant experience in electrical instrumentation and controls, specifically with rotating equipment, pumps, or compressors.
  • Strong understanding of automation systems including PLC, DCS, SCADA/HMI, and industrial IT.
  • Proven ability to configure automation systems, develop code, and modify HMI graphics.
  • Familiarity with hazardous area electrical classifications and international standards (NEC, IEC).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and other drafting software.
  • Knowledge of MCC circuitry, VFDs, and soft starters.
  • Experience with Rockwell and Siemens PLCs, as well as industrial communication protocols.
  • Comfortable working with MS Office products.

  • Experience with Rockwell PLC and Allen Bradley control systems.
