Job Responsibilities:Capital Projects and Special Projects
- Work with stakeholders to identify improvements needed to E&I infrastructure to improve site safety and/or reliability and work toward obtaining approval to execute.
- Support Project Engineering by defining the detailed project scopes for all stages of projects including initial concept, cost estimates, funding requests and execution of capital projects.
- Ensure third party engineering contractors E&I work is compliant with code, will function correctly and reliably, is properly documented, has no constructability issues, and meets CF specifications.
- Maintain open and ongoing communication with operations, process engineering, project engineering, maintenance, and supervision on status and progress of work on assigned projects.
- Serve as the project lead or work within a team to develop project scopes, designs, estimates, funding requests, construction packages, and / or final documentation of projects
- Participate in or lead engineering design reviews for assigned projects, to ensure modifications to plant systems maintain safety, reliability, and operability expectations.
- Specify, quote, and order non-consumable equipment needed for project execution
Instrument Reliability
- Provide Operations and Maintenance assistance to troubleshoot, commission, test, perform diagnostics, and/or oversee repairs to instrument and electrical equipment per individual task, project, or turnaround.
- Understand electrical distribution and transmission systems and provide support as needed.
- Stay up to date on electrical and instrument codes and standards.
- Specify, provide guidance, and/ or work directly with various instrumentation including but not limited to analyzers, transmitters, flow meters, level switches, transducers, and gas detectors.
- Work with DCS specialists to understand and modify DCS and PLC logic as needed for project installations and modifications.
- Develop and implement electrical or instrument designs that meet plant specifications, standards, requirements, and design codes.
- Reviews and ensures electrical and instrumentation designs are technically correct and implemented in a manner that is compliant with all laws, regulations, and standards.
- Work within a team environment that includes process, project, mechanical, and civil engineers and designers to troubleshoot field issues or implement small, medium, or large projects
- Work and build a network of internal or external design resources, vendors, constructors, and technical experts to develop, estimate, and install projects or troubleshoot field issues
- Participate on internal teams to perform safety reviews, develop root cause analysis, or develop technical specifications for both site and corporate initiatives.
Manage Instrument and Electrical Documentation
- Support the engineering department's responsibility for maintaining up to date piping and instrumentation drawings, electrical one-line drawings, instrument loop drawings, specifications, logic diagrams, and other equipment and system documentation.
- Ability to understand and markup drawings for revisions to loop drawings, motor schematics, p&ids, technical specifications, and individual equipment specification sheets
- Develop project packages that include scope descriptions, project related drawings, equipment data sheets, and various other scope documentation to submit for bid or construction
- Utilize and provide guidance to both in-house and external designers to document jobs for estimating, bidding, or construction
- Ensure documentation is generated in a timely fashion according to individual task, project, or turnaround schedule.
- Ensure that all project documentation is updated to reflect as -built installations and properly implemented into the CF drawing database.
Personnel Supervision and Personal Development
- Maintain / develop technical expertise in related areas (e.g., electrical power systems, control systems, safety instrumented systems).
- Execute work with contract in-house design team, develop their capabilities, and provide feedback to supervision on design team performance.
- Identify, facilitate, and / or attend in-house and external training to improve personal and/or team knowledge
Environmental, Health, and Safety
- Participate in HAZOP and LOPA studies as requested.
- Address Incident Investigation and HAZOP action items on schedule.
- Participate in the design and implementation of Safety Instrumented Functions if determined to be needed to reduce operational risk.
- Actively practice environmental, health, and safety activities associated with individualized job functions.
- Function as the CF Representative for certain contractors on-site, emphasizing compliance with site EHS policies and expectations.
- Support the corporate EHS Policy and Programs by incorporating the applicable requirements into designs.
- Continually evaluate ways to improve site safety.
- Participate in or lead safety presentations, field walks, and other EHS initiatives
Candidates whose resumes will be considered will have:- Bachelor Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited educational institution is required. Electrical engineering is preferred.
- At least 3 y ears of experience in an E&I engineering role in the petrochemical/chemical industry is required. 5+ years is preferred.
- Experience executing E&I capital projects is required.
- Experience with both power distribution, instrumentation, and controls is preferred.
- Maintenance and/ or direct field experience working in an operating plant environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with industrial electrical distribution systems
- Demonstrated experience with instrument systems which should include the following:
- Analyzers, pressure transmitters, flow meter, level indications, and transducer installations
- Understanding of DCS and PLC systems
- Development and modifications to instrument specifications Reading, understanding, and modifying P&IDs and PFDs.
- Demonstrated experience working in a team environment and working with employees of all levels.
- Experience with ETAP, SAP, and PI is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent is required.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) required.
- Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel of all backgrounds. Must have or be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).
- The ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause.
- Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs and lift 25 lbs.
- Have a valid drivers license and ability to drive vehicles within the plant boundaries.
