What this job involves: The Electrician role at our bio pharma company requires a strong focus on client relations and delivering excellent customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and following up on electrical tasks while demonstrating effective time management and self-motivation. These tasks can include commercial lighting installations, motor rewiring, conduit bending, troubleshooting motor starters and/or drives, facility and control wiring, project and upgrade work, PMs, planned work, contractor support, and facility readinessactivities. It is important to note that as a JLL employee, the electrician may be subject to emergency call-in work, including 24/7 availability to answer calls and promptly report to work as needed, regardless of weather conditions. Safety protocols will be strictly followed in all aspects of the role.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Safely and proficiently use a wide range of hand and shop power tools.
  • Possess knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems required to operate and maintain a large pharmaceutical facility.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills by anticipating and taking appropriate actions to maximize facility structures and assets.
  • Plan and execute work details in the assembly, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of various electrical apparatus, control equipment, industrial light and power distribution systems, panels, automatic transfer switches, manual transfer switches, variable frequency drives, complex circuit breaking units, and process equipment troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, upgrade, and install all electrical/instrumentation equipment and systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, procedures, policies, and schematics.
  • Interact with clients, maintenance staff, and cross-functional trades to fulfill assigned work, including performing tasks beyond the defined job title if required.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure high-quality and safe results for clients.
  • Work with minimal supervision but have the freedom to request assistance when needed.
  • Perform all incidental and associated work necessary to complete the assigned job, including maintaining cleanliness (i.e., housekeeping).
  • Submit all documentation accurately and promptly in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), recording work performed and hours required.
  • Learn and master medium voltage switching, including Cat IV gear and remote switching.
  • Provide backup support to Senior Electricians and/or Services Managers as requested.
  • Maintain work areas, equipment, and vehicles in a safe, efficient, and clean condition.
  • Assist in performing other duties, including work in other trades if necessary.
  • Participate in on-the-job training for specific tasks.

Desired or Preferred Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Prior experience working in a pharmaceutical or bio pharma facility, understanding the unique requirements and compliance standards specific to the industry a plus.
  • Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) regulations and practices a plus.
  • Knowledge of cleanroom electrical systems and protocols.
  • Experience with electrical systems in laboratory or research settings.
  • Understanding of FDA (Food and Drug Administration) guidelines for electrical maintenance and safety in pharmaceutical facilities.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) for electrical connections.
  • Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and electrical systems for handling hazardous materials.
  • Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of electrical control panels and the ability to perform panel design and modifications.
  • Familiarity with energy management and energy efficiency practices.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or state equivalent is required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Completion of two years of electrical trade schooling or equivalent experience.
  • Awareness of certification requirements and willingness to obtain them.
  • Adherence to preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to take corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and local codes.
  • Proficiency in operating electric hand tools, working on a ladder, carrying tools, lifting heavy loads, and operating a motor vehicle.
  • Previous experience with scissor lifts and articulating boom lifts is a plus.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces such as closets, crawl spaces, attics, and vaults.
  • Ability to work on roofs, utilize ladders, scissor lifts, and man-lifts with fall protection.
  • Strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures, establishing an electrical safe work condition, following onsite vehicle policies, and utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Successful completion of the JLL-required Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) Examination within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Adaptability to handle daily activities and workflow changes based on plant conditions and priority re-emphasizing, demonstrating flexibility.
