GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for supporting and troubleshooting automation and control related issues in the FruitSmart plant and Cold Storage Facility. This includes instrumentation, electrical and process control issues. This role services requests and provides support to all production related functions on an assigned shift.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Program, service, repair, and maintain instrumentation, electrical and process controls to various plant equipment
* Proficient in RS Logics 500, 5000, Factory Talk View Studio, and RS Linx Gateway
* Follows departmental troubleshooting and escalation guidelines to avoid extended periods of down time
* Troubleshoots circuits through various control systems such as Panel View Plus 600,1000 and 1500, Allen-Bradley Micrologix 1000, 1200, SLC-505, Compactlogix, Control logix and Ignition
* Reads technical and maintenance manuals as required to address equipment and instrument failures
* Using P&IDs, Single Line Diagrams, Electrical Schematics, and other drawings and technical information, perform troubleshooting of instrumentation circuits and equipment.
* Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of process control instrumentation.
* Disassembles and repairs electronic/instrumentation equipment.
* Performs test and calibrations of process control instruments.
* Operates electronic test equipment, as well as laptop computers for use as troubleshooting tools for Online troubleshooting of PLCs as well as other related equipment which can be accessed from a laptop computer.
* Aligns and calibrates instrument control loops.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
* Calculate service, starters, and overload protection per the NEC
* Design and Build control panels and cabinets as needed
* Install Conduit and wiring per NEC
* Installs instrumentation including but not limited to, Circular Chart Recorders, controllers, Flowmeters, level controls, displays, PLCs
WORK EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS
* Good understanding of ladder logic as it applies to the various processors in the production area
* Working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits and motors up to and including 480 volts
* Ability to diagnose and communicate problems, root causes and short/long term solutions
* Previous experience with PLCs (troubleshooting/minor programming), instrument calibration, electrical 3Phase power distribution, and control equipment
* Demonstrated Knowledge and work experience with NFP & NEC Standards.
* Flexibility to work 8-10-hour days (including weekends) and overtime.
* Ability to cover shift or special projects on an off shift.
* Computer skills include Microsoft Office (MS Word/Excel), PLC controller interface, and CMMS.
* Push, pull, lift up to 50lbs.
* Ability to crawl, reach, stoop, and bend.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
* Associates Degree in Electrical and or related field.
* Electrical Trade School graduate or completion of electrical apprenticeship program.
* Minimum 2-3 years' experience working in Industrial Electrical Maintenance environment.
