Position Summary: Advanced level integrated systems electrical assembly knowledge and ability.

Role qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 5 years or more related experience

Position responsibilities:

  • Checks for parts when missing or due
  • Properly fill out non-conformance sheet for modifications performed during assembly
  • Locate CAD drawings for the electrical assembly process
  • Trains Electrical Integration Tech I, & II when requested
  • Must be able to read and prepare drawings or follow blueprints/schematics to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, as well as to ensure compliance with codes
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes in order to ensure compatibility and safety of the system
  • Performs final inspections for engineering sign-off
  • Takes inventory, orders, and restocks items when assigned
  • Cross trains with other departments as assigned
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
  • Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and according to specifications
  • Monitors daily technical and/or electrical activities and maintains an effective preventive maintenance system
  • Maintains plant quality and safety requirements
  • Completes assigned work efficiently and per Tennessee Rand Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WI)
  • Troubleshoots and corrects electrical problems in a fast-paced environment and conveys information to engineers to update or redesign equipment
  • Works in a team or as part of an autonomous group performing work orders and providing technical support
  • Performs technical analysis to prepare recommendations for future action
  • Plans, schedules and records all maintenance activities, repairs and ensures all required materials and/or parts are available, prepared and organized as necessary to optimize manufacturing operations
  • Tracks, develops and leads electrical maintenance work
  • Confers with team leads to identify or prevent potential problems and work through to resolution
  • Travels to customer locations to reassemble cells
  • Performs electrical rebuilds as required
  • Estimates time required to complete the required tasks
  • Coordinates work with customer contacts to verify drop locations, hot work permits and other off-site requirements
  • Complete required tasks by project specific dates
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and boom truck
  • Maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
  • Run wires through conduit
  • Test or repair electrical based equipment
  • Work closely with engineers and contractors
  • Be knowledgeable of OSHA codes and requirements
  • Be aware of safety and proper lifting and transporting heavy and oversize loads
  • Be aware of automated equipment and its inherent dangers
  • Be proactive in continuous improvement methods
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness in the maintenance of equipment.
  • Follow directions and ensure a safe and high quality product and production environment
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintain a skills inventory score indicative of a level III or higher technician

Essential skills and experience:

  • Measurement skills (measuring tape, calipers, etc.)
  • Hand/power tool knowledge
  • Intermediate-Advanced Mechanical ability
  • Work requires 4 to six 6 in electrical construction or maintenance, which may include time in an approved apprenticeship program, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Note: Incumbent will handle more complex and difficult projects than that of the Electrician.
  • Preventative maintenance experience is recommended
  • Experience with robotic equipment
  • Willing to travel to customers' sites
  • Demonstrate concern for safety on project of crew and others
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical components used in automation
  • Proven industrial electrical experience and troubleshooting in both electrical circuitry and PLC is a requirement.
  • A general knowledge of the Quality Program Manual
  • A thorough knowledge of WI-43
  • A general knowledge of Tennessee-Rand Equipment Build Standards
  • A general knowledge of Tennessee-Rand Technical Guidelines
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial drives, AC-DC power, electrical instrumentation,
  • DCS, industrial controls/DCS, DCS/PLC, control valves, blueprint schematic reading,
  • AC/DC schematics, electrical PLC, and general schematic layouts.
