Assist with development work on, or assembly of, electronic laboratory equipment. Set up and conduct electrical performance, qualification and reliability testing. Troubleshoot tester problems and investigate electrical test failures. Recommend viable technical solutions. WORKING PROCEDURES: THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE OF PAY FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.
  • Perform electrical testing required to establish product operational ratings, measure product performance and demonstrate reliability. Assist engineers with developing required test procedures and capability. Troubleshoot test and/or tester failures; recommend appropriate technical solutions to correct such failures.
  • Perform or assist with periodic inspection, troubleshooting and repair of electronic engineering equipment (such as switching time testers, power testers, thermal impedance testers, and frequency cutoff testers).
  • Fabricate items of electronic equipment (such as chassis, test panels, test fixtures, experimental apparatus, etc.) using model shop machine tools as necessary.
  • Meet with field representatives from various equipment companies to see and discuss the latest changes and modifications in electronic laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain records of service performed on all laboratory equipment, listing the symptoms and corrective action taken.
  • Perform work of a similar or less complex nature as directed (e.g., setting up and conducting electrical performance, qualification and reliability tests).
  • Comply with company policies regarding material accounting, information security, and work area cleanliness.
  • All work must be performed in accordance with company safety policies and processes.
  • SCOPE, PURPOSE AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS: Frequent contact with engineers and technicians to exchange information pertaining to equipment performance, calibration results and preventative maintenance. Occasional contact with field representatives from various equipment companies to discuss new or changed electronic laboratory equipment.DIRECTION OF OTHERS: Provide technical information to lower classified personnel.DIRECTION RECEIVED: Work under normal supervision on regular duties and receive technical information from higher classified personnel. Receive detailed instruction on new work.Job QualificationsEDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Associates Degree in an applicable field of study (e.g. electronics, electrical engineering technology, etc.) EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:18 - 24 months of hands-on experience with electronic equipment (e.g., operation, testing, calibration, repair)At Powerex, we are dedicated to equal employment opportunity.
