Position Summary and Responsibilities

Vassar College seeks applicants for a Electronics Technician to provide support to the academic science laboratories. This position is full-time for the full-year.

Responsibilities:

* Support the technical operation and maintenance of research and teaching equipment in the science labs (e.g., assessing and diagnosing issues, repairing cables and wires, helping to source parts needed for repairs).

* Design and build new equipment, meeting objectives set by Faculty, in support of new laboratory coursework.

* Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain existing laboratory equipment including hotplates, incubators, breadboards, power supplies, trail cameras etc.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Two or more years of relevant experience in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Electromechanical Technology, etc. or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Knowledge of the principles of applied electronics and ability to troubleshoot electronic equipment as well as repair and assemble electronic circuits.

* Experience in the maintenance, calibration, and use of the tools, equipment, and materials utilized in electronic labs.

* Must be able to maintain a problem-solving demeanor during stressful situations and be able to multi-task and effectively manage deadlines.

* Must be able to work well with faculty and students.

* Experience with mathematical computations and construction of complex electronic instruments and circuits from sketches, diagrams, or plans preferred.
