What you will bring
- Bacehlor's degree required
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Reading or Literacy required
- 2 - 5 years teaching experience in an urban school setting preferred

In addition, we provide our educators with the resources they need to be successful. You will receive a personal laptop, access to Smartboards and tablets; bi-weekly professional development; and the support of a team of academic coaches, deans, guidance counselors, and social workers who are committed to ensuring the success of all our scholars.What you will do
- Teach targeted literacy interventions to individual students and small groups of students using research-based strategies and resources
- Set student goals and instructional outcomes, based on specific student assessments in reading
- Review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading and writing intervention and support services
- Support in conducting reading assessments
- Work with classroom teachers and school administration to facilitate the coordination of the reading program with the total curriculum
- Assist teachers with the collection and analysis of data
- Follow the school's policies and procedures for student conduct and discipline
- Develop clear evaluation criteria and distribute to students prior to assignments
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Share responsibility for grade level and school-wide activities
- Other Considerations - Will be expected to provide supplemental instruction to scholars needing to meet academic proficiency during extending learning opportunities (Academic Hour/Saturday Academy).
