Elementary Special Education Teacher - CiTi BOCES : Job Details

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary Special Education Teacher to join our CiTi BOCES Stepping Stones Day Treatment Program. This role involves working with students who have mental health needs, providing them with the support and education they need to thrive academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each students unique needs.

+ Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters emotional and academic growth.

+ Collaborate with mental health professionals, parents, and other educators to ensure a holistic approach to each students education.

+ Utilize a variety of teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.

+ Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as necessary.

+ Provide crisis intervention and support as needed, maintaining a calm and safe classroom environment.

+ Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and mental health.

Job Qualifications

+ Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters preferred).

+ Valid teaching certification in Special Education.

+ Experience working with students with mental health needs is highly desirable.

+ Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.

+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

+ Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.
