Receives and review documentation to ensure compliance with program guidelines and federal regulations. Essential Functions/ Job Competencies/ Physical RequirementsESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for utilizing effective presentation methods and tools to engage and inform diverse audiences. Must demonstrate strong verbal communication skills to clearly and persuasively convey program information and address questions during presentations.
  • Responsible for inventory tracking and managing supply procedures to ensure the timely availability of necessary items.
  • Develops, maintains, and updates the division filing system.
  • Serves as a representative of the program as needed and attends informative events as required.
  • Receives complains from the public and promptly informs management for further action.
  • Assists with the preparation of memos, letters, council agenda items, and travel arrangements.
  • Answers questions concerning Community Development Housing Programs in person and on the telephone.
  • Performs preliminary screening of all inquiries to verify completion of the application and initial eligibility and verifies content of all applications.
  • Submits eligible applications for funding; follows up on pending applications and notifies applicants of status; secures additional documentation from applicant as needed.
  • Assists in marketing efforts for the Department's Housing Rehabilitation Program.
  • Distributes preliminary inspection forms to Housing Rehab Inspectors.
  • Manages delinquent accounts by following up with customers and setting up payment plans with management approval.
  • Prepares monthly performance/status reports; sets up and updates project files on internal and external accounting systems.
  • Prepares contractor payment requests by ensuring all supporting documentation is complete and submitted.
  • Prepares semi-annual statements on all Housing Rehab accounts.
  • Prepares requisitions for the purpose of materials, supplies, and services as needed.
  • Receives loan payments in person and through mail; issues receipts; maintains ledgers of names, date, amount and receipt number; and ensures payments are acknowledged and deposited to comply with City's cash handling policy.
  • Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
  • Performs related work as required and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in bookkeeping, public administration, accounting, social work, office administration, housing programs, or related field.
Valid Licenses and Certifications Required Licenses or Certifications
  • Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
