Join the Virtus Healthcare Staffing Team! We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Emergency Department Observation Unit Registered Nurse to join our partner, a leading healthcare facility in Rochester, NY.

Job Description:

The Emergency Department Observation Unit is a fast-paced environment where you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients requiring close monitoring and observation before a decision is made regarding hospital admission or discharge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Assessment & Care:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients, including vital signs, physical examinations, and pain assessments.
  • Monitor patient conditions closely for changes in status and respond promptly to any deterioration.
  • Administer medications accurately and safely.
  • Perform procedures such as venipuncture, EKGs, and wound care as needed.
  • Provide comfort measures and emotional support to patients and their families.
• Communication & Collaboration:
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, other nurses, and members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth patient transitions.
  • Educate patients and their families on their condition, treatment plan, and discharge instructions.
• Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications:

• Active NYS RN License
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an acute care setting
• Telemetry experience is required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Experience in an Emergency Department or Observation Unit

Schedule:

• Full-time: 36 hours per week
• Rotating shifts: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays
• Two on-call shifts per month
