Job Summary: The primary responsibility of this role is to provide comprehensive support to employees regarding their health plans, Family Medical Leave (FML), and Alaska Family Leave (AFL). The Benefits Assistant will collaborate closely with business partners to ensure the smooth implementation of the district's health plan and the coordination of open enrollment. This position also supports the administration of various employee benefit programs, including health, life insurance, long-term disability, retirement plans, and other leave programs for all benefit-eligible employees of the District.

Annual Salary: Grade 4: $26.73 - $36.51 DOE

Work Day: 8 hours

Work Year: 12 months

Bargaining Unit: Non-Represented

Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):

* Associate's degree in business, office management, human resources, or a related field (related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis).

* Minimum of two (2) years of experience in human resources, business administration, benefits administration, or a closely related field.

* Familiarity with FMLA and AFLA provisions and regulations.

* Strong customer service skills with a focus on client support.

* Experience presenting information effectively to both small and large groups.

* Highly developed organizational and prioritization skills.

* Proficient in using personal computers and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.

* Strict attention to detail and excellent written communication skills in English.

* Ability to communicate effectively in potentially stressful situations.

* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.

* Competence in managing and utilizing various data sources to complete tasks.

* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to develop actionable solutions.

* Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups in a wide variety of circumstances.
