Description:
Responsible for both Pre- employment and ongoing health assessments for employees and volunteers, maintaining accurate records. Promote, implement and evaluate programming for staff health promotion and education.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities:
* Perform pre-employment assessments on all employees, making proper recommendations related to job roles.
* Follow employee health vaccination requirements for new hires, providing MMR and Hepatitis B vaccinations as indicated.
* Perform routine employee and student health assessments, including reviews of health immunizations, TB screenings, and follow-up as needed.
* Update immunizations and initiate mandated vaccines according to state and federal guidelines for employees annually and as needed.
* Perform N95 respiratory fit testing for employees annually and as needed.
* Coordinate the blood-borne pathogen exposure process, including evaluation, treatment, and follow-up.
* Assist as requested when there is reasonable suspicion of employee alcohol or substance abuse in the workplace.
* Monitor and manage employee incidents and claims as required.
* Maintain required OSHA documentation and records regarding workplace injuries.
* Maintain electronic employee health records, including health visits, lab results, immunizations, N95 testing, incidents, and workers' compensation information.
* Reinforce various health promotion and wellness strategies and programming for hospital and clinic colleagues.
* Serve on various committees and teams as appropriate to employee health.
* Maintain current departmental goals, policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with state, national, and MercyOne Trinity Health requirements and standards.
* Provide first aid evaluations as necessary to employees and volunteers.
* Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
* Education: Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
* Licensing: Current registered nursing license in Iowa, mandatory reporter, and BLS certification required.
* Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint) and electronic health records.
* Critical thinking skills and effective oral and written communication.
* Ability to ensure confidentiality of employee information.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in nursing.
* Acute care nursing experience.
