What we need
The Employee Relations and Staff Development Manager at Prairie Band, LLC plays a vital role in cultivating a positive work environment and ensuring the consistent application of policies and procedures in alignment with tribal law and organizational standards. This multifaceted position is responsible for overseeing and enhancing employee relations practices and engagement while promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the organization.
Duties Include:
Employee Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding workplace issues and concerns.
- Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints, disputes, and grievances in compliance with Prairie Band, LLC policies and tribal law.
- Recommend and implement resolutions to employee relations issues while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Provide guidance and support to managers on handling employee performance, discipline, and termination in alignment with company and tribal policies.
Policy Compliance:
- Ensure consistent application and compliance with company policies, tribal policies, and federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Review and update employee handbooks, policies, and procedures to align with company, tribal, and legal standards.
- Assist in creating and implementing initiatives to enhance workplace culture and employee engagement.
Communication and Training:
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees and management on workplace behavior, conflict resolution, and company policies, including tribal preference practices.
- Facilitate open communication between employees and management, including feedback sessions and employee surveys.
- Partner with leadership to proactively address workplace trends and concerns.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of employee relations cases and investigations, ensuring compliance with tribal laws and regulations.
- Prepare regular reports on employee relations metrics and provide insights to improve workplace practices.
- Collaborate with HR and management to track and resolve recurring employee relations issues.
Staff Learning & Development
- Conduct assessments to identify training and development needs organization-wide using surveys, interviews, and performance evaluations.
- Design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs that promote skill enhancement, career progression, and to assist in meeting business objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in employee relations or a related HR function.
- Experience in conducting investigations and resolving workplace disputes is required.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, local, and tribal employment laws and regulations.
- Familiarity with Title 22 of the PBPN Tribal Law and Order Code and tribal preference practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- HR certification (e.g., THRP, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is highly desirable.
- Experience working in tribal or Native-owned enterprises is a plus.
Physical Demands:

· Ability to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items while working at assigned desk area.
