Job Summary: The employee relations manager role is responsible for managing employee relations, overseeing unemployment administration, conducting investigations, and supporting full-cycle performance management, including employee and manager feedback coaching or support, coaching or support related to corrective actions and other formal actions related to performance and employment. The employee relations manager will also actively collaborate with other organizational leaders on strategies and initiatives to enhance employee engagement, retention, and turnover. Major Responsibilities:
  • Manage the unemployment claims process, including documentation, appeals, and audits to ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Collaborate with HR and management to prepare necessary information for unemployment hearings.
  • Analyze unemployment trends and recommend strategies to mitigate costs.
  • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints, grievances, and workplace incidents.
  • Document findings and prepare reports to present to HR leadership and management.
  • Recommend appropriate actions based on investigation outcomes, ensuring compliance with company policies and labor laws.
  • Oversee the performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and development plans.
  • Provide guidance to managers on effective performance management practices, including coaching and feedback techniques.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with HR leadership to develop and implement employee engagement initiatives aimed at improving morale and job satisfaction.
  • Analyze employee feedback and retention metrics to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted action plans.
  • Support programs and activities designed to enhance employee engagement and reduce turnover.
  • Develop, update, and communicate employee relations policies and procedures in line with best practices and legal requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, providing guidance and support to management and employees on HR-related issues.
  • Conduct training sessions for managers and employees on employee relations topics, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture by promoting open communication and addressing employee concerns.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent amount of experience; Master's degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in employee relations or HR management, with a strong focus on performance management, investigations, and conflict resolution. Skills:
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, with experience in unemployment administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with employees and management.
  • Strong analytical, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.

  • Proficient in Microsoft office suites
Working Conditions:
  • Office environment with a standard workweek (may include occasional overtime).
  • Potential for remote work, depending on company policies.
  • Up to 30% travel required.
