Our Human Resources Team at the Greenville County School District is dedicated to advancing student achievement by recruiting and employing the highest qualified staff for our schools and to serve those with whom we work.Employee Relations RepresentativeReports to: Senior Employee Relations Representative Purpose: Administers programs designed to establish and maintain effective employee relations through the uniform and equitable application of policies and procedures. Audits organization to identify employee relations issues, and recommends appropriate actions to address and resolve those issues. Utilizes experience or expertise to solve problems and offer solutions to on-going employee concerns.Job Functions:Handles employee relations issues at all levels by counseling employees, mediating and resolving disputes between employees and supervisors. Coordinates the investigations of complaints and collection of related data. Ensure positive interaction with employees, assist in the employee engagement process and help to resolve conflicts.Responds to inquiries from employees and/or external parties for the purpose of resolving issues, facilitating communication among parties, and/or providing information or direction. Available to meet with employees and/or external parties to discuss work-related concerns. Conducts investigations into alleged violations of policy, conduct, and ethics program. Coordinates investigations of disparate treatment and/or harassment. Responsible for assuring that human resource policies and practices are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and that management is complying with company policies and practices. Manages and monitors the district grievance procedures.Manages and monitors all appeals to terminations for non-contract employees.Directs employees that need employee assistance to the appropriate benefit plan or assists in finding community resources available to employees. Serves as a liaison between the district and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider.Monitors unemployment charges and outcomes of hearings related to unemployment. Attend legal hearings (unemployment, etc.) for the purpose of providing testimony and monitoring proceedings.Delivers training to district personnel (e.g. compliance information, procedures, etc.) for the purpose of addressing compliance issues.Leads Human Resource Department in providing Leadership Training to Middle Level Managers and Supervisors of Hourly Employees. (design and delivery of quarterly training for Supervisors of Hourly Employees; Establish training for mid-level managers; Establish training for those new to management and schedule on an on-going basis)Assist as needed in the collection of data and assist in developing responses to legal charges related to employment issues.Analyzes turnover information to determine any patterns for follow-up. May participate in exit interviews for employees leaving the district.Other duties may include serving as site safety coordinator at the Central Office and/or Debt Set Off Hearing Officer for the district.Qualifications:Excellent communication and human relations skillsExcellent Organizational and problem-solving skillsDemonstrated conflict resolution skillsDemonstrated objective analysis and decision making skillsAbility to respond/recommend alternatives or solutions to adverse situations in a constructive and neutral mannerAbility to maintain confidential information in an appropriate mannerAbility to mediate difficult conversations and situationsAbility to work independentlyAbility to work effectively with all levels of the organizationAbility to prioritize and balance workload to meet deadlines and deal with situations that ariseBachelor's degree requiredMinimum of five years' experience in a Human Resource management level positionIn lieu of direct Human Resource experience will consider administrative/management experience within a school district settingExperience in resolving conflict/problems with all levels of employees (hourly, professional, administrative)Experience preferred with several years exposure/emphasis in employee relations Experience and working knowledge of employment law Experience in training management level employees Salary: 245-day position; Administrative/Supervisory - Grade F Salary Range (74,841- 123,204)Greenville County Schools does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, sex, color, disability, religion, or national origin in its dealings with employees, students, the general public, applicants for employment, educational programs, activities, or access to its facilities.
