This Employee Relations Specialist will join a healthcare non-profit company in the Berkeley, CA area. This person will be responsible for fostering a positive work environment by addressing employee concerns, resolving conflicts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws. This role involves working closely with management and staff to promote a culture of mutual respect and collaboration. This is an in-person position with occasional remote days, but they need to be primarily in the office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a point of contact for employees to address concerns, grievances, and workplace issues.
- Mediate disputes between employees and/or management to resolve conflicts in a fair and timely manner.
- Ensure company policies are consistently applied and adhered to across the organization.
- Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints and allegations of misconduct.
- Stay updated on employment laws and regulations to ensure company practices are compliant.
- Maintain accurate records of employee relations cases and outcomes.
- Promote initiatives that enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in Employee Relations role, or equivalent
- Strong familiarity with California laws and regulations, specifically within the workspace
- Experience working with labor unions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to be onsite 5 days a week in Berkeley, CA
This will be a permanent, contract-to-hire position. The first 6 months will be as an hourly employee, then convert to salaried. Pay will vary based upon individuals' relevant experience across an estimated range of $50.94-$55.88. Health, dental, and vision benefits are available as well.
