Endoscopy Tech - Saratoga Hospital : Job Details

Summary of Position: This position is responsible for providing support in the preparation, procedure and patient care process in the Endoscopy Unit.# The position will circulate through the procedure area under the direction of the Registered Nurse.# The position also has responsibility for maintaining the inventory of specialty instruments. Primary Job Responsibilities: Procedure Support: Greets patients and instructs them on pre-procedure steps.# Conducts Point of Care testing, as needed under direction of RN, and checks vital signs.# Circulates under the supervision of the Registered Nurse to increase flow and turnover.# Supports the Registered Nurse in the room he/she is assigned.# Anticipates the needs of the procedure and performs duties in an#independent manner with RN supervision. Room Turnover: Sets up/turns down procedure rooms between Endoscopy procedures, as well as assists in the discharge area/patient transporting turnover.# Facilitates flow of patients. Equipment Management: Assists with gathering of equipment and set up for the day.# Demonstrates knowledge and appropriately handles all of the Endoscopy equipment.# Equipment including but not limited to scopes and all GI instruments.# Keeps current with basic knowledge of Endoscopic procedures. Inventory Management: Responsible for ensuring adequate supply inventory in accordance to established PAR levels.# This includes restocking the procedure rooms, prep and post areas with needed supplies. Documentation Support: Assists in ensuring effective flow of documentation, ordering forms, lists, materials and filing as required.# Specimen Handling: Demonstrates knowledge of the proper handling of all Endoscopy specimens, including labeling under the supervision of RN.# Transports end of day specimen.# Minimum Qualifications: High school degree or GED.# Prior endoscopy experience or hospital related experience preferred. SGNA certification preferred.# BLS Certification required.
