Job Description The Endo Tech performs various patient care activities related to treatment and care of endoscopy services. The Tech is responsible for the cleaning, inspection, decontamination, and processing of endoscopy instrumentation and equipment. May also assists with patient cleaning, feeding, and preparation for treatment, takes and records vital signs, changes bed linen, prepares treatment trays and other supplies, and assists nursing service personnel with a variety of other patient care duties. The Endo Tech assists the clinical staff by performing a variety of clinical tasks that ensure the efficiency of the unit and provide outstanding customer service to our patients and visitors. Clinical skills: This will have been satisfactorily performed when... Unit is appropriately prepared in an effort to ensure that patients are adequately and properly accommodated during their procedure at all times. Patient care activities are completed including collection of patient data, related documentation, observations, etc. on appropriate forms consistent with protocol. Lab work is drawn for assigned patient according to procedures using standard precautions and without injury to the patient and after establishing positive identification with no mis-labeled specimens. Assistance is provided to the clinical staff in performing a variety of examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions and/or sterile technique, as evidenced by physician's satisfaction. Patient/General Safety: This will have been satisfactorily performed when... Patient safety is demonstrated in the department by use of side rails, braking mechanisms and patient monitoring, as demonstrated by risk management reports. Any adverse, unsafe or unusual condition is reported, documented and corrected, as evidenced by the patient/employee incidence reports or department specific logbooks. Clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams are identified and appropriate action taken to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome, as evidenced by exam results and patient satisfaction. Patient areas are maintained including removal of all clutter, soiled linen bags, trash, etc. on a daily basis. Equipment Maintenance: This will have been satisfactorily performed when... Proper care and aseptic cleaning of all patients related equipment following established department policies is done to ensure the quality of care provided to patients and evidence by infection report. Routine maintenance of all endoscopy equipment is performed including cleanliness with special attention given to crevices, box locks, annuals, and other aspects necessary for instrument care and consistent with procedures as evidenced by supervisory observation. An orderly, safe, and clean environment is maintained at all times. Rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies and has required supplies readily available for procedures, as evidenced by customer satisfaction.
