This is a day shift position with a start times between 7:30AM - 9:30AM.Keywork: sterile instrument processing tech, surgery tech, endo techResponsibilities/Job DescriptionAs an Endoscopy Technician, we sterile process endoscopy equipment and are an integral part of the GI team within the Endoscopy department. Under the guidance and direction of the nursing team, we accomplish a variety of delegated nursing assistive tasks such as equipment and supply set-up, assisting with collection of specimens, cleaning and disinfecting of equipment and scopes, exam room prep and clean-up including the documentation of cleaning and disinfection processes. They will complete direct patient care duties to ensure efficient patient outcomes and an outstanding patient experience.* Completes tasks as delegate by RN with defined role functions and proficiencies. Assists in data collection to identify the patient's needs, problems, concerns or human responses (e.g. vital signs, blood pressure). Assist with the implementation of the established plan of care, as delegated,* Assist the physician and nurse before, during and after the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, handling of devices used during procedures including forceps, snares, tomes, baskets and balloons. Reprocesses and maintains equipment according to standards of infection prevention. policies/procedures and manufacturers' instructions. Provides and maintains a safe environment for the patient and staff by following regulatory agency requirements and standards set forth by professional organization and institutional policiesQualificationsRequired Education/ExperienceAbility to complete the SGNA GI Associate's program to become a GI Technical Specialist (GTS) certification within one year of employment/hire date. Six months experience working in an endoscopy or gastroenterology setting or cleaning endoscopy equipment, OR have successfully completed a Surgical Technologist/technician OR Endoscopy Tech OR Instrument (sterile processing) Tech Program OR niche training/education in gastroenterologyRequired License/Certification/RegistrationAHA Basic Life Support for healthcare providers by start datePreferred EducationGraduate of an accredited: Surgical Tech, or Endoscopy Tech or Instrument Tech (sterile processing) ProgramPreferred License/Certification/RegistrationAAMA or CSSD Certification Flexible endoscope preprocessor (CBSPD GI Scope) certification Completion of SGNA GI Advance Assistant program
