Job Summary The Endoscopy Technician plays a critical role in assisting healthcare professionals during endoscopic procedures. The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of endoscopy equipment and supporting the medical team in providing exceptional patient care. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and set up the endoscopy room, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and in working order.
- Assist healthcare professionals in performing endoscopic procedures by providing technical support and maintaining a sterile field.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize endoscopy equipment, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols.
- Retrieve and process specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper documentation and storage.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records, including documentation of procedures performed, and any complications or adverse events.
- Assist with patient positioning and comfort during endoscopic procedures, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- In conjunction with a registered nurse and physicians, monitor patients during procedures, promptly reporting any changes in their condition to the healthcare team.
- Assist with the troubleshooting and maintenance of endoscopy equipment, coordinating repairs when necessary.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirements
- Minimum: One (1) year in a hospital environment
- Preferred: Previous experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in an endoscopy department.
License/Certification Requirements Minimum:
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- Obtain Endoscopy Technician Certification within three (3) monhts of hire to the position
Preferred: Endoscopy Technician certification at hire
