Position Profile

Weaver is looking for an Energy Compliance Services Senior Associate - Lab Specialist to join our growing firm. This role offers either a part-time or full-time schedule. Let us know what you're looking for! Weaver's ECS practice is dedicated to helping businesses navigate compliance with evolving regulations, including regulations governed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Environment and Climate Change Canada, California Air Resources Board, as well as other various states and provinces. Many of the environmental programs we focus on within our ECS practice are rooted in managing the human impact on the environment, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing sustainability. We have substantial expertise and experience with transportation fuel regulations, including petroleum-based fuels as well as renewable fuels.

The Senior Associate Lab Specialist is expected to have a thorough understanding of laboratory operations, having direct experience in conducting sampling and laboratory analysis. This specialist should also have experience with laboratory statistical quality control procedures. This specialist will be responsible for reviewing laboratory instrument precision and accuracy information for independent laboratories. They may also assist in similar reviews of petroleum refinery laboratories. The specialist will assist with various other projects handled by the regulatory consulting business unit, which may include laboratory compliance assessments, and assistance with registration and reporting requirements surrounding various fuels and climate change programs.

This specialist will research regulations and manage multiple assignments with the supervision of more experienced team members. The ideal candidate will be able to establish trust with clients, maintain good working relationships, and communicate effectively with client personnel and teammates. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, deadline oriented, has strong interpersonal skills, and maintains professionalism.

To be successful in this role, the following qualifications are required:

* Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field

* 3+ years of petroleum laboratory experience

* Experience navigating ASTM standards and procedures

* Basic statistical knowledge

* Demonstrates independent thinking and strong decision-making skills

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

* Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fluid working environment

Additionally, the following qualifications are preferred:

* Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field

* Exposure to oil and gas industry, or experience in energy compliance and fuels regulations
