Your Day-to-Day: This job posting is for a position in the Rotating Equipment Services (RES) Engineering group located in Madison, PA (Waltz Mill Service Center). Our group has the component/design responsibility for reactor coolant pumps, reactor coolant pump motors, shaft seals, auxiliary motors, and auxiliary pumps that Westinghouse services for the commercial nuclear power industry. Our work includes onsite refurbishment of plant equipment for Westinghouse OEM components as well as other manufacturers. The open position's primary focusing is on auxiliary motors. Our auxiliary motor engineer is responsible for motor refurbishments in the Waltz Mill motor shop, power plant operational support & troubleshooting, testing and qualification of components, manufacturing support and follow, piping and instrumentation system evaluation, design basis drawing and document creation/revision, reports, commercial dedication instructions, and providing technical input to Westinghouse offerings. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provide technical support for Westinghouse shop technicians, project engineers, and test engineers for all aspects of motor remanufacture at the Waltz Mill Service Center. This includes disassembly, inspections, repairs, reassembly, and testing. 2. Perform technical review of work instructions for motor remanufacture and testing at the Waltz Mill facility. 3. Disposition non-conformances generated during procurement of parts or execution of motor remanufacture activities, with consultation and support of a mentor. 4. Perform engineering tasks under the direction of a mentor. This will include tasks related to design, analysis, emergent issues, vendor oversight and document review. 5. Communicate nature and status of work performed to appropriate internal and external stakeholders. 7. Prepare technical input for various proposals, including defining necessary repairs based on incoming and testing results. 8. Propose and initiate test programs and evaluate results. 9. Identify and communicate areas for product/service improvements to management personnel. 10. Participate in customer and vendor meetings to present technical materials and justification of services and product designs. 11. Perform work within established scope, budgetary and schedule requirements. Who You Are: As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team: Required: • Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or industrial preferred), or equivalent • Typically two to four plus years of applicable engineering experience • Demonstrated experience making technical decisions based on applicable standards and engineering judgement • Proficient in reading manufacturing drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams • Strong communication & technical writing skills (English) • Ability to travel occasionally to supplier facilities, conferences, or customer sites up to 10% Preferred: • Familiarity with motor design and manufacturing processes (rewinding, stator core restacking, VPI, brazing, electrical insulation testing, etc) • Experience and working knowledge of medium voltage motors (horizontal and vertical) from legacy Westinghouse manufacture • Other experience and knowledge in rotating equipment (pumps, generators, hydrostatic seals) • Working knowledge of equipment seismic qualification & analysis processes • Working knowledge of ASME Codes and Standards • Working knowledge of Nuclear Safety Related Requirements • 3D Modeling (Solidworks, CAD, Inventor) Why Westinghouse?
