Position Overview Engineering Department SupervisorRequirements
: 3rd shift - Sunday thru Friday morning - 9:30pm - 6:00am EST
Roles & Responsibilities (List in order of importance) - Provide technical direction to design, plan install and maintain plant facilities, mechanical, electrical equipment, and the associated controls.
- Schedule and direct all assigned regulatory testing including Alarm and Fire suppression systems.
- Performs vendor selection, emergency repair authorization and prioritization, final approval of work, manages decisions affecting indirect contract services on their shift.
- Must be able to make sound decisions that affect the daily operation of the business.
- Responsible for making decisions that affect Team Members based on Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Provide technical support and training to Engineering and Operations Team Members.
- Responsible for Distribution operations, 7 days a week.
- Must be available in person, as required, to support engineering activities and operational emergencies outside of normal business hours.
DECISION MAKING/PROBLEM SOLVING: - Frequently required to independently make business decisions.
- Decisions will have significant impact on quality, cost, and service levels.
- Actions routinely taken to ensure the building infrastructure support for the Zanesville facility.
- Responsible for ongoing operations of the facility and grounds.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY/INFORMATION: - Responsible for staff of 10-12 direct Team Members plus oversight of indirect contractors.
- Direct daily activities of and ensure required training is current for Avon mechanics and electricians.
- Direct activities of outside mechanical and electrical contractors to ensure all projects are completed safely and on time with minimal operational impact.
Preferred Qualifications Technical Degree in Engineering, Industrial or Electrical
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree required in a technical discipline, a BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- Experience in project/process management, continuous process improvement and quality control highly desired.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience leading facilities maintenance team in a manufacturing, production, or distribution center environment.
- Experience in a computerized maintenance management system preferred. Must have the ability to read electrical diagrams, diagnose, troubleshoot, test and repair mechanical and electronic devices. PLC programming skills preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge and expertise required: general plant maintenance, HVAC, preventative maintenance, facilities and, mechanical maintenance.
- PC literate with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong presentation skills; interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Experience specifying, selecting, and purchasing parts and equipment to maintain production equipment.
- Occasional lifting up to 40lbs; frequent standing and walking; ability to work long hours and some weekends
