Job Description :

The Engineering Manager will provide technical expertise and business leadership for all engineering related activities in the design, test, certification, and manufacturing of aircraft composite materials and structures. This individual must have a thorough understanding of the aircraft composite materials and structures markets and be familiar with suppliers, customers, and OEM's in the general aerospace community.

Responsibilities

This individual will have responsibilities for all engineering activities required to support the company's current aircraft related product lines, as well as a forward-thinking approach to the development of new products for the aerospace market.

Essential Job Functions

* Set scientific and technical goals within the outline provided by senior management.

* Coordinate engineering activities with manufacturing, quality, sales and marketing, and other groups within the company, consistent with the Company's strategic goals.

* Confer with management, production, and marketing staff or discuss project specifications and procedures.

* Directs multiple concurrent engineering projects while ensuring their success in meeting their objectives.

* Manage the engineering staff with a sense of urgency to insure projects are completed on a timely basis.

* Prepare work orders, process plans, test plans, and test reports.

* Work closely and help assist/train technicians in composite part manufacturing, composite materials manufacturing and test panel fabrication.

* Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and direct the integration of technical activities.

* Analyze technology and resource needs to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.

* Work with customers and OEM's on new product development.

* Consult with customers to prepare project specifications.

* Direct, review, and approve product designs and changes.

* Assign, direct, and evaluate the engineering team's work; and oversee the development and maintenance of the team's competence.

* Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed.

* Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, enforcing rules, and making recommendations about the purchase of materials or services.

* Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to management, production, marketing and customers.

Education/Experience/Skills Required

* BS in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline advanced degree preferred.

* Minimum of five years engineering experience in the aerospace composites industry.

* Experience with FAA certification programs, preferably involving composite aircraft structures.

* Ability to interface at the highest levels with customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies (FAA, etc.), and senior management.

* Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to management, production, sales and customers.

* Strong business acumen and the ability to understand how decisions and activities in Engineering impact the P&L.

Good understanding and working knowledge of:

* Various composite materials and their properties

* Composite material specifications.

* Material processing for panel and part fabrication.

* Mechanical testing of composites.

* Customer qualification and design allowable database programs.

* M&P related aspects of engineering drawings.

* AGATE and NCAMP programs and Composite Materials Handbook (CMH-17).

* Composite parts and assemblies manufacturing.

* Strong technical and analytical Skills.

* Must have knowledge of aerospace software systems such as CATIA, Fiber SIM, Solid Works and Surf Cam.

* Excellent written and oral communications skills.

* Travel Required
